Price is too expensive, 170k / capacity that have few pieces
For the first time I ate the traditional specialty of Old Town. Have to say very good. I appreciate the place.
I have come to this point. Coming one time is a lot of 'always endless. I think? Dads, if anyone comes to Hanoi, they will not be able to come today because the restaurant is very beautiful and has no beautiful space.

Old house collapses your mind because the beautiful house on the opposite is fake

Fish already overcooked and dry, even before bringing to table for you to "cook." Way overpriced and service lousy. They can't even keep the beers cold! Would give zero stars if possible
Many people rate this place based on 5 stars service they are expecting and give this place bad reviews and if you go by that you may be missing the real thing which is food. So I am rating this place as foodie. Food tastes amazing. This food is very specific to Ha Noi and specially this place with long history behind it. So to haters, stop nagging and enjoy food. If you want world class service because you guys think you are too important and spend more money and buy experience from 5-Star hotel.
When we walked in, we were handed a card that stated their restaurant only serves one dish. This is a fantastic catfish dish with tumeric and other spices. You eat it with rice noodles and other fresh veggies
170,000 vnd (7.5 usd) for 1 person and this small portion is for 2! No refill. U must be kidding me. That's the smallest portion and most expensive food that i had in vietnam. Even taste is ok, i feel that's not worth for the price. We left hungry and hunt for another meal after this.
One of my most favourite place. I always try to come this everytime i has been in Hanoi. The great simple dish at a very local house which keep unchanged through many years. I really love this place at all.
Only 1 menu with Grilled Fish but worth to visit and really enjoyed the local fish food. But the volume of the food was not such satisafactory, I mean it was too much less considering we ordered for 3 person. And managers having no English, and also very indifferent to the visitor almost unkind.
i even don't want to rating this restaurant for 1 star, it's rip off, 170k for a very little portion for one, fish is so so but price is too high, not recommended.
Don't ever go to this place, it's a rip off old old restaurant, the portions are tiny and can't fill you up. I will never come back to this restaurant again. There is another one Cha Ca Thang Long near by with cheaper price and bigger portions
It's overpriced. 1 person cost 240K VND. And the fish only a little. Feel being cheated. In their menu got 2 prices. It have 160K VND and 240K VND. Believe if tourist they will charge you 240K VND while local ppl will charge 160K VND. But they will tell you 160K VND is for kids. STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND!!
Unique taste of local food.A bit oily but worth a try.Only one menu, two person sharing 1 plate (34k VND).
Tipical Vietnamese, if you are into trying local food, you should try this
If you're hungry, do not go here. If you have money to burn, this is the place. Fish fry at your table in some curry like sauce. Noodles, veggies and some dipping sauce. You won't find me there again.
Food not worth the price (340 VND for 1 pan of chopped fish of unknown species). Not tasty. Literally no service - the food was just dropped at our table with no comment. Additional charge for wet tissues. I do NOT recommend this place.
Most expensive place we went in Hanoi but the food was uuhhh just okay. It tasted quite simple, like fish in curry powder to me so I didnt get the hype and food reviews from here, especially given the price.
Hard to say more than what's already been said. The food is excellent, period. A little more expensive than other street dinners but well worth it for flavor.
170k for some rice noodle and fried fish pieces? It only costs 20k for similar dishes. And learn to treat customer better. Tried here once and immediately regretted it.
3 star for food, 1 star for service. Should enjoy in Ho Chi Minh city
The oldest restaurant in Hanoi, serving only one dish - fish. Great experience.
It's an authentic Vietnamese fish grilling experience. As always the greens are so fresh. The fish is a bit too oily but taste good.
Not recommend. Very expensive (170k vnd) for a very small portion. Food quality is just average, definitely not justified for that price. You can get better value & quality in other nearby restaurants.
Do not recommend. It dosen't have any taste. Too expensive for so small portions.
My friend and I created our own food tour of sorts and this place was our last stop. They refused to let us share one plate. Explained we just wanted one to taste the dish before we left Vietnam. Still no. This was our rudest experience in this country.
The food here is okay (I have had better) and the portions are quite small yet pricey relative to the rest of vietnam.
This is supposedly the legendary place for Cha Ca in Hanoi. The place looks as bad (or let's say authentic) as it was more than a decade ago, but somehow I find the taste now is just so-so. I remembered it was better. The service however, is still authenticly bad despite becoming a tourist spot. While last time it was only known by locals, but now with all the tourist, still nobody speaks English nor even offering what to drink (for food, there is no need to order as there is only one dish and it comes by default). Not cheap as well.
Just one dish, worth trying. The atmosphere and reputation of this old restaurant are worth the higher price.
Good taste but a bit expensive compared to the size of dish
The oldest cha ca place in the street, some other places pretend to have the same name to lure visitors. I found it quite basic (drowning pieces of fish in oil), and with very small portions for what you pay (170k per person). They're not too keen on foreigners, we got the beers we ordered as we came in only after we were finished. I have a strong suspicion foreigners pay a multitude of the real price. Despite their legacy, I suggest you get your cha ca elsewhere. Atrocious service for mediocre food
The food is quite good, but it's expensive
Don’t come. Can not understand why they are so famous. Too expensive (that shock). Taste so-so. Small and all place. Nearly 200k for each when it should cost only 30-40k only. Not so friendly service either.
Super overpriced. We ordered two person portion which cost 340,000d, but the fish is not even enough for 1 person. It is not even that tasty.
It’s quite simple really. This place is local, old and unkempt, it is not pretending to be anything, it is not catering to the whims of tourists or the precious. It is pure and simple with some of the best Cha Ca you will ever taste. Go there.
It’s tasty but a little oily. I love the dill with the fish. They are fast in service and they helped us cooked it and taught us how to eat it. It cost 180KVND for 1 serving. The photos seen is for 3 pax which cost 480kVND so the more people there is, the cheaper it becomes. Local beer costs 20kVND.
The place is famous for its fish...but for my opinion is overestimated. Old building , not so clean....and....everyrhing....too oily....with questionable oil...quality...so no ..
Overrated and overpriced. Food average, serving tiny - order for two but enough for one, service was 0 star. Guy was interested in mobile not in customers. Waste of time and money.
Taste was good. Service was not as good as expected and defnoetly the pricest meal we had in comparision to the amount of food. It was 170000 VD per person and we were still hungry. In comparision a pho at pho 10 starts at 60000 VD and you are quite full afterwards.
Expensive Only one dish griied fish They said it was 160 each and 240 for two The bill arrived and it was for 480 for the 2 of us So rip off and poor food and service
Each person paid 170k and we received very, very little food. It was delicious!! But very over priced.
Was expecting better to be honest. Very rude, abrupt service and no welcome at all. No offer of drinks. Very small portions and very high prices - no idea why our hotel recommended it (!) also they charged for napkins. Yes that is right we paid nearly 400k for 2. Will never be back and will not recommend. I'd say to tourists to watch out for businesses recommending it and not to waste your money. You are treated more as inconvenience then a guest/customer. Although that seems to be the norm in hanoi
It’s the first and flagship outlet of “CHA CA LA VONG” but it’s loosing its charm due main 4 reasons, although taste is not bad (not that authentic as it used to be earlier)..1). Staff is unfriendly, cold and mechanical2). Service is slow and sometimes poor3). Portions are smaller than competitors4). Prices are unreasonable - specially when we have so many negative points like points 1-3..I know some really good but infamous outlets serving great “Cha Ca” in Hanoi, then why would I come back or recommend this place as they didn’t give me any good impression at all even though tried twice!
Don't even think about it!! Small portion of prefried oily fish which you heat up for yourself in a pan. Staff is really embarrassing, creepy. 250k- 160k for 1 person totally scam. It worth like 40-50k.. Worst place ever
Not worth with what i have to pay for. Not hygien enough. Not safe when eating. Easy to get burn and no upgrade. Should not come here any more. Dissaplointed
Place move opposite, nothing special.a bit pricey. Small portion. Like 5 pieces of unknown fish
Good taste. I ask for menu to make order, staff informed me no menu, just only grilled fish which is their signature food, and did not introduce anything else what they have. Then we heard order a dish of fish organs from next table, we would like to try that but staff told us the last dish was served to next table, then okay fine for us.We paid 510,000 vnd for meal of 3 people but portion is not much, so this price is quite high for us. You can try but not really recommend.
Great experience for everyone for tasting one of the most famous food in Hanoi. There are several fake place around, then be careful. It is located in an old house then the space for sitting is limmited but the food is yummy. Price: 170,000vnd/person
This dish goes so well with Ha Noi beer. Love the taste of fresh fish mixed with green onion and dill cooked to your liking. The sauce is uniquely delish! Definitely a must eat dish when you are in Ha Noi.
One dish, absolutely delicious. Brilliant place, great atmosphere and the food is good enough that there was a line the first time we went
Taste is so so , look like fish soak in the oil . Price is a bit expensive compare to portion they give us.
Grilled fish in special type. Too many oil using in manufacturing. A bit difficult eat in case you can't smell shrimp sauce
A bit slow and noisy but very nice tasty
Best Cha ca you can find in Hanoi. Visited few times. Tried other places as well but nothing beats their Cha ca.
